National Trails Day: Forest Bathing at Mill Ridge Park
Dig into your senses, play, and explore with a guided forest bathing walk on Saturday, June 15th at 10a.m. Forest Therapy, based on the Japanese practice of “shinrinyoku,” or “forest bathing,” is a guided nature connection experience. Through simple sensory activities, participants slow down and engage with the landscape in a new way, engaging the body and refreshing the mind. This research-based practice facilitates connection with the earth, with the self, and with others and has been shown to increase physical and mental well-being.
We gather together multiple times throughout the walk to share our noticing and practice deep listening. Our guide, Sarah Champion from Forest Therapy Nashville, is available for any accommodations that ensure you feel comfortable and safe throughout our walk. Come dressed comfortably with shoes you don't mind getting dirty and a water bottle if you wish.
For more information and to register, please contact katherine@southeastpark.org. Space is limited. A $10 donation is suggested.
For this activity, participants will meet using the provided coordinates or link below, as this is the location for the newly established Crossings Trailhead (located near Wirtgen Corp). There will be no restroom facility onsite. Expect to see three yellow flags and six orange cones indicating the parking area in a gravel lot.

Through mindful observation, gentle movement, and sensory exploration, we'll connect deeply with the rejuvenating energy of the forest. Allow the fresh scents, vibrant colors, and gentle sounds of spring to awaken your senses and nourish your soul. This experiential journey offers a chance to release the stagnant energy of winter and embrace the new beginnings that spring brings. Come and reconnect with yourself and the natural world in this harmonious celebration of the equinox.
Forest Therapy at Southall
Join me for a two hour Forest Therapy walk on the wonderous grounds of Southall Farm & Inn. A vast expanse of farmland—325 acres—surrounds you, with greenhouses on one side, and rows of heritage crops, orchards, and gardens on the other. Rooted in nature’s bounty and the cycles that create it, Southall evokes the feeling of old farmsteads across America—a place of gathering and connection around food and nature. It is where curiosity leads to learning, learning leads to understanding, and it all culminates in a deeper, more meaningful experience.
